The Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), Korea Institute of Design Promotions (KIDP) and the Korea Design Firms Association (KODFA), in cooperation with the Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines (PDDCP) will be holding "The Philippines-Korea Design Sharing: Building Partnerships & Sharing Knowledge" on 17 - 18 November 2011 at the Manila Hotel. Among the speakers are Architect Joey Yupangco, Dean of the De La Salle College of St. Benilde School of Design and Arts, Head of Design Policy Planning Division of Korea Institute of Design Promotion Kim Yunjib, CEO of Cobliss Design Consulting House Simon Park, Chairman of the National Council of Industrial Designers of the Philippines Celino Santiago, CEO of Lee Graphics Inc. Lee Sookja, Emotion, Inc.'s strategic consultant Brett Choi, and 607, Inc. Senior Director of Planning and Development Young Kyung Jin. The Design Sharing Project is a program established by the KIDP, a Korean government agency formed to promote the design industry, and is implemented in different countries in Asia. The objectives are to provide a platform for noted Korean design professionals to teach and foster design skills and expertise through free workshops and seminars, free consultations for SMEs and educational exchange programs. Michel Motorsport president Jan Kierulf said that given the right government support, the Philippines could become the auto design capital of Asia, the same way the country has been touted as the “Milan of Asia” in the furniture industry.

Trainors from the Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines, attached agency of the Department of Trade and Industry, visited GK Sunshineville in Las Pinas last July 27 to teach residents how to dye jute straps for their famous silver bags.
"The training was an eye-opener for GK Sunshineville weavers that there are millions of possibilities and opportunities to improve and develop their products," shared Ivan Quiwa, GKonomics Enterprise Development Manager.
